Hiring and retaining high-quality teachers is extremely important, but the demands on an early-to-career teacher can make this difficult. Equally challenging can be establishing the right priorities and support to develop effective, confident teachers. So how do we become the leaders our new teachers want and need? New teachers bring much-needed energy, enthusiasm, and fresh ideas, but have very specific needs including a thoughtfully selected and adequately supported mentor. Leaders can make the difference between success and frustration for new teachers.
